About Stayfold
Heather and Mark Urick, the inventor of the StayFold, also own Window Fashion Design in Williamsburg VA. Their window covering business had always included blinds, shades, shutters and soft treatments.
But stationary panels in particular, became very popular and requested in recent years. Panels incorporated with blinds, shades and even shutters, soften windows and give any room warmth and personality. They continue to be one of the largest add-ons in the business and responsible for 30% of Window Fashion Design’s annual sales.
However, the inevitable bottom flare of stationary panels was also responsible for 90% of customer callbacks! Although, the Urick’s treated every window treatment installation with the utmost care and concern for the ultimate end result, much time was spent steaming, pinning, and fan folding, as well as educating the customer on the laws of physics. After many expensive trips back to customers and the long hours spent on installations, Mark determined to find a way to keep the folds of the panels in that “perfect” configuration, top to bottom. |
After working countless hours making different prototypes in an effort to create a product that affixes to the panel naturally, with no harmful pins or needles, Mark finally created a tool that solves a window treatment problem that had existed for years, and the StayFold drape and curtain shaper was born!
In 2008, the StayFold won the Window Covering Manufacturers Association (WCMA) prestigious Product Innovation Award for “Best Technical Innovation”. |
